"Divorced.  Beheaded.  Died.  Divorced.  Beheaded.  Survived..."

The wives of Henry VIII have been vilified, dehumanised, researched and written about since the earliest days that that particularly gargantuan monarch ruled in England over five hundred years ago!

On Saturday 15th April 2017 Chalice Productions presented their lively and versatile adaptation of Rebecca Russell and Jenny Wafer's "The Regina Monologues".  A tale of six modern women sharing their most intimate, hysterical and often heart-breaking stories and memories of the one man that they all have in common, delivered from the rooms in which they have all lived their very different lives.

The six Queens received an overwhelming round of applause and even a number of standing ovations!

Very well done ladies!

And huge congratulations to Terasa Newton on Sound & Jade Franks on Lighting

....for sticking with it and pulling off a brilliant show!

And Thank you to Samera Thalen for reviewing the production.... Want to see what she had to say?

A Roaring Good Run!

Huge Congratulations to all members of the Chalice Productions cast and crew who delivered 3 spectacular performances of Writer/Director Laura J Harris' inspired and 'locally sourced' adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic tale, "A Christmas CANAL" at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port.

Re-imaging the classic Dickens' tale and adding a little local twist, Harris set the play, not in victorian London, but in Ellesmere Port's own once-thriving canal port in the year 1907.

The three-night production run was well attended and very well received by both adults and youngsters alike.

Mayor of Ellesmere Port, Pete Rooney and Lady Mayor Sharon Rooney enjoyed the second of our evening performances on Sunday 18th December.  Afterwards they asked if they could meet and congratulate the cast personally afterwards.

Our Story

In 2012 Laura Harris stumbled upon a group of local young actors who were helping make a student film at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port.  Realising their potential she took them under her wing and was part of the driving force that saw a youth program at the museum come to life, enabling you people in the area to work on productions and work with organisations such as the RSC, MIKRON and MATE Productions.

The same year the group embarked on a Halloween project bringing the site to life with over 100 actors from local theatre groups telling a chilling story based on the ghost stories of the site.

The Boaty Theatre Company was born on the back of this and from young people that occasionally did a bit of drama, our group evolved into a group of young people that showed themselves to be talented actors and our first full length production, directed by Laura was William Shakespeare's: The Tempest.

The Boaty Theatre Company worked hard to develop skills, original plays and reworked classics, but alas - as is the fate of may many small groups - the funding ran out long before the enthusiasm of the group ever could!

And so this is where Chalice Media's Story begins....

Chalice came to be out of the desire to keep the hopes and dreams of our talented, local young people alive.  We took the same ethic and ethos of 'The Boaty' into the creation of Chalice, continuing to deliver actor training and workshops, building skill sets and offering opportunities across the board in the performing and production arts, whilst striving to create a sense of civic pride and positivity, self worth and social inclusion through our work in and around Ellesmere Port.  A great number of the founding members of the group are still with us, some have moved on to further their careers, doing great and glorious things in the world of creative arts... but they all come home to see us now and again!

You may even catch one of them in a performance from time to time.

In 2016 Chalice Media produced the first EVER  "Where There's A Will..." Shakespeare Season at St George's Hall, Liverpool.

Plays included: 'Macbeth', 'The Tempest', 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'Much Ado about Nothing'

as well as a promenade piece written and developed specifically for performance at St George's Hall:

'Walking the Bard: The Shakespeare Experience'
